Mathematics
Vectors for JEE Main & Advanced — dot product, cross product, and applications
How vector algebra underlies 3D geometry and physics problems on both papers.
On JEE Main
Main tests dot and cross product formulas, projection of a vector, scalar and vector triple products, and coplanarity conditions in single-correct MCQ format. Component decomposition along arbitrary axes appears as integer-type questions.
On JEE Advanced
Advanced uses multi-correct and integer formats combining vector algebra with geometry: area of parallelogram or tetrahedron, vector equations of lines and planes, and angle bisector vectors. Integer-type problems on triple products require exact arithmetic with given component values.
How to practise
Use PracticeJEE's Vectors topic before 3D geometry so the transition is smooth.
